Ray Wallis de Vries (they/them) is a crossmedia designer, graduated from AKI ArtEZ. As a part of the Black Brick foundation, their atelier is located in Enschede, Netherlands.
Their latest work “Soiled Origins” was exhibited at PLACES by MIKC in Hengelo.
In a society that often strives towards an ideological state of perfection,
Ray entices us to embrace our already complete, normless, dirty being.
Through mixed media, they seek to reconnect us with each other and our surroundings, challenging the viewer to keep questioning the conventional.
In 2023, Ray has worked as a biolab assistant at both Mediamatic, and Waag Futurelab in Amsterdam.
At Waag Futurelab, they have completed their own project, as well as assisting with their annual Biohack Academy course.
