If we embrace our dirtiness and recognize that there was never a state of perfect original unity to begin with, we can stop rejecting our true, dirty selves. We will live a life that is more whole, without yearning for a perfect state that was never there.
There is a tendency in society to think there is a certain point of perfect original unity that we have to return to. We yearn for and strive towards a more “perfect” state of being.
On that path, we deem everything that does not fit into this original unity as undesirable, perverse; dirty.
In the endless chase to achieve perfection you reject this dirtiness, making you lose everything that makes you your complete self. Reshaping yourself in society’s eye, under the illusion of having control.
This cave challenges a perfect, original state of being by showing that even in our origins, there has always been dirtiness.
